As the year draws to an end and holiday break approaches, I would like to take the time to wish everyone a happy, healthy and safe holiday season. I also would like to thank you for your unwavering support in what has been an unusual year to say the least. As you partake in your own family traditions and celebrate the holidays with family members, wishing you had more time to spend with them, OR NOT IN SOME CASES, I am hoping everyone finds the time to unwind, unplug and recharge from the daily stress that we all know this place can cause at times.
The spirit of the holiday season has been abundant this year at Hudson High School. Whether it was the staff and students coming together to help a faculty member deal with the loss of her home, sponsoring children and families to ensure that every child in our community has something to open on Christmas morning or the various clubs that raised funds to donate to local charities, the generosity and unselfishness of our school community in the past couple of weeks has been a wonderful example of how a building full of adults and children can come together for a common cause and improve the lives of those around them. Most recently, our Art Department has been making snowflakes to be displayed in the new school in Sandy Hook that the students will attend.
It has now been one week since the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut. The effects of this tragedy have reached far into the school and certainly into our homes. There is not a parent that I know who has not held their children just a little tighter and a little longer since this horrific event unfolded last week. Some of you haven’t had the chance to see your children yet but will be with them in the coming days and I’m sure you can’t wait until you are reunited.
Now more than ever, the holiday season is a time to appreciate all that we have been given. It is a time to reflect on the past year, hold on to the good memories and let go of the bad ones.
Wishing all of you a joyous holiday season and restful break.
